Coldwater Canyon is one of the famous canyons in Beverly Hills that provided abundant natural water to the area for centuries which initially attracted Native American inhabitants, the Tongva or Gabrielinos. It flowed down from the hills to form what was called the Gathering of the Waters at Sunset Boulevard and Beverly Drive.
To this day, Coldwater Canyon is regarded as an incredible part of Beverly Hills to call home. The canyon is traversed by heading north on Beverly Drive or Rexford Drive, which converges and forms Coldwater Canyon Drive. This goes all the way to Mulholland Drive at the top of the hill. Coldwater Canyon connects Beverly Hills and the Westside to the city of Studio City in the San Fernando Valley to the north. Due to daily commutes from the Valley to the city and vice versa, rush hour traffic on the drive is something to take note.
Homes flank both sides of Coldwater Canyon Drive. Smaller streets branch off of the thoroughfare and meander deeper into the canyon, hiding even larger luxury homes and estates with expansive city views.
Coldwater Canyon homes range from the low 1s to over 100 Million. A home on Lania Lane, halfway up Coldwater, was even listed for $130 million dollars in 2019. The most expensive home directly on Coldwater sold for over 4 million, whereas homes off Coldwater with more privacy and less traffic noise sell for much more.
For those sensitive to Beverly Hills services and schools, the canyon is divided roughly in half with the lower portion up to Cherokee Lane as Beverly Hills proper. Further north to Mulholland Drive is regarded as Beverly Hills Post Office (BHPO). However, all is included in the famed 90210-zip code.
